I love you ship designs Sketchy, they have a really solid, simple feel to them. They work well with the designs in the game already, and feel quite natural.

I prefer to not give my wingman more than two missile launchers. This increases my lifespan while flying near them, and stops them from wasting a bazillion missiles on weaker targets (usually). Ignore Target wouldn't be a bad command either. I hate watching my wingmates fire entire spreads of missiles into light shuttles.

It would be nice if there was an option that allowed you to play the game while in full control of your entire squad, rather than just your ship.

Of course, the current, traditional playstyle should be retained if desired as well.

One of the keys to any of these "ultra heavies" being viable is having a vastly expanded payload capacity. 45 missiles is likely to simply not be enough for ships/stations/turrets that can deliver and absorb that degree of punishment.

The idea of a large warship would also be made more viable if on, lets call them "capital" class ships, missiles fired directly from the side the missile tube was on, as opposed to the direction the ship was facing.


It would be awesome to see two capital ships like that broadside each other.

It would have to be made to not harm shields, as components/shields don't have hit points, and it would make super shields pretty much a waste of credits. Interesting, I've never piloted ships with more than five launchers. The AI uses them routinely though and holy cow, on missions over 100+ on major engagement missions and planet defense/attacks they throw out solid walls of missiles.

Using custom ships for the AI led to the first time I ever was broadsided by 7 missiles from one enemy ship in a single turn.

It hurt.

A lot.

Energy Weapon

I still like the idea of an alternate "missile tube" which does not use ammo, fires a fast moving projectile that inflicts 1 megaton worth of damage and can fire every other turn like a missile tube.

They're pretty sleek looking! I still think Sean should add a "freelance" or "mercenary" faction that only uses custom ships.
