I have just done island 249 on very intelligent in 28 turns, surrender is never accepted of course. My main adversary was green, Yellow was dangerous only early on but then I neutralised it pretty quick.

I am curious to know other people's best score for this one.

Thanks Sean, I shall keep at it. It may come back to me once I have played more games. When I loose 2-3 times on an island, I set the level lower until I can beat it, Later on, I shall revisit every island at the highest play level. So I have have many hours of fun - and frustration ! - ahead lol Be...

Revisiting Slay after some years

Hello every one and Happy New Year ! First I want to thank publicly Sean for his excellent help in recovering my licensed games after a crash and change of puters. I purchased Slay in 2005 and played a lot of islands that come with it. After 2-3 weeks, I would always play on "Very intelligent" and I...

I am a business consultant. I have read this thread with interest and wish to share my reaction: a) On the face of it, it seems that the original inventor has genuine causes for grievance. On moral grounds, he deserves a sympathetic hearing. On the legal grounds, I would leave this matter up to the ...

Re: Reinstalling games...

I am switching to a new computer and want to transfer the games over to it. Can I copy it to a flash drive without messing up the games ( if that happens my husband would kill me, these are his games)or do I have to have all of the original info, which I can't seem to find? I bought the game pack o...

Yes, I do prefer a game to have a certain amount of continuity from one turn to the other. This doesn't mean the game play is predictable, but rather that you don't re-deploy your entire force every turn. While I haven't gone through every level, (half way through since I re-installed) I know that ...

I agree with Shaun simply on the basis that it would "diffract" the game, making it less uniform. Less "uniform" compared to what ? Precisely, it would transform the game from boring unniform inevitable win to a game allowing more intelligence, initiative, surpises and new strategies. Considering t...

I really don't want to go down the road of lots of rule options or people will all be playing different games. Not being able to un-buy a unit once you have bought it is one of the key elements of the game in my opinion so you have to think carefully before buying anything. I do not agree with you ...

I am surprised no one expressed an opinion about my suggestion.

What about you Sean, is it not useful to consider this ? If it is simply too complicated to include this option, please let me know.

Thanks,

game suggestion for slay

I have played some games with my old vesion 4.2 using the 'cheat' of downsizing the armies so reduce expenses. As a matter of fact, I believe that this possibility should be part of the game. If anything, it adds true intelligence to the game. Furthermore, it corresponds to reality: countries increa...

One more thing : The AI of the new slay might be stronger than the previous version. In my case, this is attested by the fact that I cannot beat some maps i have replayed with the new slay version wheras I had beaten them easily before. So perhaps there is NOT much point in transferring the old scor...

BTW, this is a bug i have had very often with my version 3.5 of General

It is not so bothersome because once you have taken off all the opponent's pieces, you KNOW you have won. As wins are not counted, it does not matter whether you get the win screen or not.

1) copy the file slay.dat (your old slay) into the new slay files 2) rename the existing highcores.dat to something else like highscoresnew.dat 3) now rename the slay.dat (copied) to highscores.dat REMEMBER : the dot dat gets added automatically, so you rename only the slay into highscores. 4) get o...
