Infantry refusing to obey orders:- That's the morale routines kicking in. Tanks refusing to obey orders:- Tanks have a quirk where they tend to refuse to move once they've identified a threat (like another tank or ATG). Once the threat is removed (by destruction or retreat or withdrawal), the tanks ...

I have already try this, but the bazooka/panzerfausts aren't really effective as they miss there shot most of the time and as they are slow to shoot again. But that, at least, is realistic, whereas the inaccuracy of tank main armament and ATGs is a bit of a joke. The solution, of course, is to use ...

I tend to go with the cheapest tank that's historically justifiable. I won't use armoured cars because only in very rare cases did armoured cars provide direct support to infantry company assaults. Sometimes, I'll go with a platoon's worth of halftracks if I'm feeling particularly mech. In general, ...

I've always regarded Firefight as an infantry simulation. Tanks work well in the infantry support role but tank-on-tank and tank-on-ATG combat is pretty laughable, primarily because heavy weapon accuracy is so bad. A couple of tanks supporting an infantry assault, on the other hand, plays out fairly...

Can't Log In Using Firefox

For some reason, I can't log in to this forum using Mozilla Firefox. The log-in procedure seems to work OK and the system will tell me if I've got it wrong (invalid password etc) but after successfully entering my correct username and password, I'm still not logged on. I can log in using Internet Ex...

Sean, in some subsequent version of Firefight, could you display the random seed for campaign games as well as for stand alone scenario and generated games. Many times I've come across campaign maps that I'd love to use in generated games.

Cheers,

Ubermoo, It depends on how they set up. Enemy squads in defence that do not sight (are not engaged?) by the player's forces seem to withdraw towards the objective after a certain time. Sometimes, this withdrawal causes them to appear on the player's flank. Occasionally, an attacking player can use t...

Not sure what you mean by this. Any more fog-of-war would make the enemy just about invisible !! :)

In my experience, an assaulting AI-controlled enemy seems to withdraw once it's suffered around 50% casualties.

I got in the situation of 3 sections with no casualties yet, in a U around one only enemy gun (75mm if IRC). What happened? They all cowered while the gun slowly traversed, whacking them off one by one! They hardly fired a shot! Sorry this will not do. If this really happened, The gun might get one...

As you stated, your main problem is placing your blue deployment line in position so that you can maintain radio contact with your unit. This is not what I stated, mate. This is what I stated: :) In my case, the request for some sort of elevation indication has nothing to do with command and contro...

Just wondering how difficult it would be to include some sort of ammo resupply facility. I was thinking along the lines of an object that the game would treat as a dead soldier that other soldiers could scavenge ammo from. Purchase points-wise, it would be about the same value as a squad. It would b...

Knut, In my case, the request for some sort of elevation indication has nothing to do with command and control, which I generally don't have problems with, and everything to do with where I place those blue squad markers. Place them too far forward of a crest and troops are exposed on a forward slop...
