Note that the T-55s in the incident described seemed to lack any kind of infantry support. They must have been moving quite slowly to be engaged in this way. Was this because of terrain, lack of driver expertise or mechanical limitations? (One reason why you can't do this in Firefight is because the...

... this is especially irritating when theyre only just behind a steep ridge, and the HQ has to go all the way over the one side of the map, often holding up the whole advance for 5-10 minutes whilst contact is lost with units on the other side. An important part of running a company battle is "Whe...
Buglet
Admittedly, this comes under the category of "Why on earth would anyone do that?" but I did do it so I thought I'd report it 8) Playing a Campaign. Game Over. I save the game while the Results screen (displaying numbers of dead, wounded, captured etc) is displayed and exit. (What had happened was I'...

So, here comes the question: if I later would move a squad into the location where the enemy squad was situated earlier during that gunfight, would I see the corpses they left behind? It's obviously very useful and important. I think the answer is obvious, that yes; of course you'd see their casual...

Stigar Try playing a defensive game (Very Easy difficulty, of course) to see what it looks like from the other side. You know the enemy will have a force similar in size to the one you've been using so you'll be able to check out the difference between "what's really out there" and "what you can see...

Stigar, What you are seeing is individual men who "appear" and "disappear" according to whether or not any of your men have LoS to them (modified by factors like the terrain they're in, morale of the spotter etc). You need to know that, even if your troops can't actually see any enemy, they will eng...

They fire indirectly. They will do this automatically at enemy in range or you can select their targets yourself. Personally, I find I get better mileage out of them if I let them choose their own targets. There is a delay for setting up after they stop moving. Unfortunately, the only way to have th...

I like the idea of hearing tank engine sounds as they approach your men though. Might work. After all, you get to hear firing off screen. Still, it can be quite hard to meaningfully pick the sound of an engine out of all the other noise and confusion on a battlefield. It's not quite the same as lis...

Hm, so no non-spotting bonuses for remaining pat, then. I was thinking it might have been abstracted out -- e.g. defender unit getting extra cover and concealment until he relocates. It's not that kind of game. In Firefight, a casualty occurs when a virtual bullet intersects a virtual man. If you'r...
