An AAR of a Firefight game that I did for my local wargaming group is posted at:

It was written for people that know little or nothing about the game but some here might also find it interesting.

Anti-tank guns are also good infantry killers if they're sighted to take advantage of their long range. But note that you'll probably need a forward screen of infantry to spot them. In a "squad v ATG" situation that is under 200 metres (ie well within rifle range), I'd put my money on the squad ever...

I did it for a local wargaming e-zine run by a friend of mine but there's no reason why it shouldn't get a bit of wider publicity.

Re: I've Been ROBBED !!
Yes, for a while the rule was that you had to have infantry on the objective for it to be counted as owned by you, but when I added the ability to have "mostly tanks" you could end up with the situation where the enemy or you has no infantry. But what is "On" the objective? Once I killed the last e...

For Andy, In the same game, I finally got to see what you mean about tanks "stopping" when they come under fire. It's usually not an issue with me because I always try to move my tanks out of enemy line-of-sight but, in this battle, I wanted to move one of the T-26s quickly from out on the flank whe...

I've Been ROBBED !!
June 1941, "Mostly Tanks", I'm the Sovs defending against the Germans. I've got two T-26s, two 45mm ATGs, two conscript squads and a couple of other infantry units. The Germans are coming at me with five tanks of various types and about four squads. The armour/anti-armour battle is short and to the ...

Graphics Buglet - Troop Status Report
In the Troop Status report, for some but not all turreted AFVs, I'm finding that the turret graphic is displaced to the right and down from where it should be relative to the hull graphic. I've only noticed it in the Troop Status Report. AFVs that I've seen it on are British and NZ Shermans and Germ...

Making Screenshots
I'm a bit illiterate when it comes to computers so could someone explain to me gently how to make screenshots of Firefight games?
Thanks,

Re: Question on Objectives
I know why villages are important, but why farms and hills? How important are they? Why are you there, having to seize those hills and farms? They don't need saving, people in towns do. Tactics is all about possession of vital ground, which usually means hills, because they overlook everything else...

Russian Campaign
The post below this one contains a Russian campaign for Firefight. It covers most of the "main" events of the Great Patriotic War in the central and southern sectors. The file is commented so you can read exactly what historical events I am trying to recreate. The biggest fudge I've made is to use D...

Campaign Termination Question for Sean
Does a campaign finish at the last date in the campaign file or is it hardcoded in to end in May 1945? (or is there a terminator character to enter in the campaign file?).
I was thinking of doing some short campaigns that would only last a year or so eg a North African campaign.
