Tank speed is way too fast as well, overall. Are you sure about that? I've never had a problem with this. The data base contains maximum values for road and cross-country speeds and tanks seem to move as fast as they can from one position to another, which seems appropriate to me. "Speed is life", ...

AT rifles dont even act like grenades if i foce them to fire at infantry cos i bought them instead of an HMG..... Anti-tank rifles don't work like grenades mate. They were simply big rifles that fired armour piercing half-inch or 14.5 mm slugs at the highest speed possible (without breaking the fir...

Desert Terrain

Anyone else think that Desert terrain now has too many trees in it?

That is my impression as well. The problem is that, both historically and in order to prolong their survival in a typical Firefight game, HMGs tend to be sited to engage at longer ranges. It's what they're designed for. It's what they do :)

They're just trying to conserve their ammo as they start to run low. I thought it might be something like that but the algorithm needs adjusting. There's no point in conserving ammo if they're not going to use it at some stage !! They get no points for taking unused ammo back home with them, after ...

Purchase Credit Point Values

For each vehicle/squad/weapon, are purchase credit point values entered according to some sort of subjective guess by the person creating them or are they mathematically calculted from the unit's characteristics?

HMG Behaviour

I'm a little concerned at the way HMGs behave on the Firefight battlefield. During the first few minutes of a battle, they seem to fire very aggressively, quickly chewing through two or three hundred rounds. Once they get down to about 100-200 rounds however, they tend not to fire at all. Further mo...

I've just done a campaign file for New Zealand and I'll cut-and-paste a copy of it to the post after this one. Although I did it for the New Zealand .txt file, I guess you could copy it to any of the campaign files if you wanted to play with a different nationality. I've tried to make it as variable...

News Headlines Buglet

Rommel attacked at Al el Halfa 30 Aug 1942, not 1941.

Can someone tell me what the "LOW/MEDIUM/HIGH" entries in the News Headlines file do?

Cheers,

3.99q. Problem still there. It's definitely got something to do with either the darkened area of the map during setup or the text that appears on it. When I'm setting up for defensive games, as long as I keep the screen displaying only my setup zone ie there's no darkened area on the main map, scrol...

Try setting the graphics to 16 bit. I seem to remember that I had difficulty running Firefight on a machine with a spec similar to yours and that fixed it. For some reason, Firefight didn't like the low spec/Win98/32-bit colour combo.

Worked for me. Might work for you.

Couple of Things I'd Like to See

1. Is it possible to have the option of rotating a map 180 degrees? Quite often, after having, say, attacked a particular objective, I'd like to turn around and see how I'd go defending it but, of course, I can't. I can generate the same map but, because the player is always at the bottom, I can't ...

Buglet - M7 Priest

The F6 display in the top right corner of the screen for the M7 Priest is scrambled and shows the wrong icon. I suspect this may have something to do with the large crew size? Also, on the troop Status Screen, the seventh crewman shows 59 main armament rounds (why 59?) but doesn't use them and proba...
