Spot on, Paolo. For me, Firefight is an excellent reproduction of company level command, which is all about applying superior amounts of combat power at a decisive point. I'm happy that the force options are being expanded. I'm happy that the AI is being improved. Better graphics is always good. I w...

I'm afraid I don't know either, but since the T34 marked a turning point for the Russians my gut feeling is that it wouldn't be there for the beginning of the German invasion. The T-34 was in production before the German invasion. It wasn't encountered by the Germans during the first fortnight or s...

Re: Should tanks be able to cross all terrain?

... tanks are simply the best force in the game by a mile. They can beat infantry, they can beat other tanks, and they often tend to be the best unit to beat AT guns with! ... Try sending them through the panzerfaust-armed late war German infantry without their own grunts in support. Unfortunately,...

Britain: LMG - Vickers .303 calibre  Lewis Gun HMG - I don't know? Vickers .303 No. The Bren was the standard squad (Brits called them sections) LMG throughout the war. The Lewis was a heavy (as in it weighed a lot) drum fed LMG/MMG left over from WW1 and used by Home Guard etc. Not ...

Re: Situation Report and some questions...

If you know of any AT guns that couldn't fire HE let me know and I'll modify the program.
The Brit 2 pdr is the obvious one.

I prefer the no flag system. A squad of infantry often seems like an army :) I was playing a game yesterday that I thought I'd screwed up completely. I was attacking and thought I'd run into a wall. Two platoons (I usually group squads in threes) had taken 50% casualties and I'd achieved NOTHING. T...

The Valentine is available to the Russians... surely wrong? Lend/Lease from Britain. The Allies sent the Sovs heaps of gear during the early part of the Great Patriotic War to make sure they stayed in the fight. The Allied tanks were a bit of a joke next to the Sov ones but the thousands of trucks ...

Enemy tanks are definately driving off the bottom of the screen while on attack BTW. I keep seeing tank forces go rocketing by me. I had that happen to me while I was on attack. Defending enemy tank drove off the top of the map. Very pleased it happened, I was. I thought it might have been a morale...

Further 3.99f Feedback

OK, so you still can't look around the battlefield after a campaign game. An automatic "Save Campaign" option would also be useful at the end of each campaign battle, before moving on to the next one. Small Typo in the end-of-game summary: "Although your were up against [whatever] opposition". Shoul...

The end-of-game ability to see where surviving enemy have ended up is welcome, although I haven't checked to see if it works in campaigns yet. My troop status report is listing soldiers killed by "armoured piercing shell" (or something similar). I presume that's an error and is meant to be HE from t...

Whatever the new thing that it shows for dead guys its, it looks dumb to me, id rather just have the gravestone or a white cross or something. The new frame rate is nice, makes the game a lot better. I cant wait for the japanese. Yeah, the poppy is not as bad as I thought it could be, Sean, but its...

3.99f Feedback

1. New points system? Oh, I get it. Points are doubled for infantry only, multiplied by 1.5 for infantry heavy. HMG teams are still only 2 men? 2. Setup jerky scrolling seems well and truly fixed. 3. Fire graphics look good to me. 4. There's a small map generation bug where hedgerows lining roads ex...

I'm sure then that it's because your 32 bit colour driver isn't very well written
No problem. Are you going to answer my question about the post game ratings (bottom of Page 1 of this thread)?

On the "jerky scrolling during setup" issue.

Changing the display setting to 16 bit does improve things. Scrolling is still jerky during setup with 16-bit colour but not as jerky as with 32-bit.
