I've just played a defence game that I lost (enemy captured the objective after I ordered "Retreat") but still managed to rate a "Good" effort.
I was wondering if anyone else has managed any highly rated defeats (Diff was Very Hard).
Cheers,
Andy Brown

v 4.1 - "F" Key Doesn't Work During Setup?
Anyone else noticed this. Started to play my first Defence game using 4.1. Couldn't use the "F" key to check LoS and fields of fire during setup. "F" works OK during actual play of the game, just not during setup. It did work during setup in 4.0 (I used it all the time when setting up defensive forc...

Predator, I see what you're getting at, but, if you use the same mission code with different terrain, dates, nationalities etc, you can pretty much get any battle you want. The other thing to do is to go into the Guns, Infantry or Tanks sub-folders in the FF Data folder and delete (move somewhere el...

Well... I'm sure some of the others guys around here, who are way more competent commanders than me, will be around soon and provide you with more specific advice. Nope, you've pretty much covered it. Once troops start taking fire, you can more-or-less forget about them making any bold moves until ...

I'm not really serious about what I'm about to suggest but it makes an interesting talking point. How about the ability to cancel the "Retreat" order? So you can order "Retreat", and everybody heads for the edge of the map, but you can cancel it at anytime. What it means is you have this "Get out of...
Recently I have read an part of an autobiography of a slodier who figth in ww2 After normandy landing, is company was stopped by an HMg in the first house of a village. he said that The best tactic to do in this situation his to run whit a grenade and throw it into the window where the HMG is. In F...
3)a force order option so that if you want to charge, retreat etc.. you dont have to wait for your infantry to creep up there as slow as they can go. Nah, this is the whole point of the game. The troops don't want to stand up - they know what'll happen to them if they do. I agree it would be nice t...

I haven't been playing FF much lately but I thought I'd give the new hills a spin today. I was reminded of the saying "Be careful what you wish for: you might just get it." I agree with Knut. The new hills are a big improvement in terms of gameplay and realism but, IMO, they make it harder to pictur...

What Does "Fractal" Mean?
I've finally got 4.1 and the hills are a definite improvement but I was wondering if some knowledgable person could tell me what "fractal" means (as in "fractally generated hills")?
Thanks,

=the space predator I have see today that there is an update whit new tank. can we download it directly from the site? If yes, where? Where did you see that? It is not too hard to make a new vehicle, it is just a matter of adding a data file to the "Tanks" folder. I think he's talking about this: h...
