Really?
I just tried it on my laptop aswell and it works fine on that too.

You weren't trying to right-click and say "save link as" were you, because that won't work.
Maybe Skydrive was just down for a bit...

More Custom Ships

A few more of my custom ships, incase anyone's interested... http://usera.ImageCave.com/adamhawker/MoreShips.png Download: http://cid-b1e7ee094271bbda.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Public/MoreShips.zip The "Thumper" (I've run out of good names) is kind of a cross between the "Fish" and "Bird of Prey" ...

You earn money as follows: GC = 8 credits MoOC = 4 credits MoCB = 2 credits MoB = 1 credit Mission Success = 4 credits Promotion = 20 credits As you can see, it's pretty important to be getting Gold Crosses. Remember - the cheaper the ship you fly, the easier it is to get the better medals. On the e...

The .php site you described sounds ideal if you can pull it off. It would probably still need some moderation now and then of course. The biggest problem I can see is that it's hard to find a decent free webhost that allows you to use all the php/mysql features you'd need. If anyone ever decides to ...

No, No, No! Of course Tomb Raider and Duke Nukem would be almost impossible to finish without saving - but in Critical Mass there is no finish - the sole aim is to survive for as long as possible, and in doing so, gain as many medals as possible. It is far more comparable to something like Tetris, P...

Thanks very much :)

I don't know if anyone would be interested, but I'm thinking about writing a short article on how to use the ship designer - the help file isn't exactly comprehensive, and there are one or two little tricks I've picked up...

What makes a good wingman?

Everyone has their own ideas on the type of custom ships they like to fly, but what about the ships you give to your wingmen...? * Do you make all-purpose ships, or specialized scouts / interceptors / attack ships? (note: it would be so much better if attack ships could be designated as such, and on...

Great looking ships you got there - very detailed :) My faves are probably the Traitor, Brutus, and Cormorant. My least faves are the Wingman, Bullwhip, and Ant series. I've posted most of my custom fleet before, so I'll just show the ones I still regularly use: http://usera.ImageCave.com/adamhawker...

Players should definitely be ranked according to medals. It encourages you to take risks and fly cheaper ships, which is important since you can build a virtually indestructible ship for about 150 credits (see below). Without the medal-based system, you could quite easily just avoid enemy fighters a...

Try emailing Sean: sean@windowsgames.co.uk I'd guess you'll just need to give your name, address, approximate date of purchase, and payment method (credit card / debit card / paypal). Basically, just enough information for him to be able to look you up in his records and confirm that you are a genui...

It's a good idea :) I'd love to be able to replay at least the last turn, and save it as a "highlight" - for when something weird happens, or you do something really skillful. Maybe not whole missions though. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like CM is being developed any more - the last update was 5 ...

They look great - very detailed. I have a few criticisms on the actual designs - obviously it's a matter of taste, but... I think the rear shields are a huge waste of money. With just the money you would save by removing those two shields, you could give the A-Wing an extra launcher, another set of ...

Turrets are easy to kill, provided you have some patience. The key is that they lead their target (ie. you). If you start out flying perpendicular to them, they will turn to aim in front of you. This exposes their side, which has 3-5 times less armor than the front. If you turn towards it now, you s...

Okay, so I eventually made it to Admiral on mission 32, after my 30th mission success (and 27th Gold Cross). Assuming you had a 100% success rate, it looks like the requirements for promotion are to win 30 missions, with a certain minimum number of credits/medals. If that's right, then congratulatio...
