Ugh. It seems that the new version of Wine makes Firefight slow down so much that it's unplayable. I guess, I'll have to stay with the old version of Wine and hope that they'll fix it one day.

Mission Code

Does anyone know if there's any relationships between the numbers in mission code and the terrain?
Is it some kind of a description of the terrain or just a number of a map that is stored somewhere?

I usually move the window around until it starts displaying something. Also, you could report the Wine bug to the Wine database. Maybe one day they'll fix it.

One thing that annoys me in Wine that it displays black space instead of map in some wargames like F2C2 and WitP.

Things that I like: New terrain graphics - a great visual improvement. Fractal hills More campaigns. Things that I'm disappointed with: Lack of externalisation of weapons data. Lack of AT grenades/molotov cocktails. Poor tank combat - horribly inaccurate guns, lack of autocannons, lack of different ...

I have modded HMG teams so that each of them would have 4 loaders with 400 rounds each.
Most of WWII To&Es that I have seen have at least 5 men per HMG squad.
After all, HMGs are for sustained fire.

One thing that could be cool, would be a friendly fog of war. If units are outside communication range, they could be invisible just like the enemy units, and only the soldiers seen by these within the range would be visible.

Thanks for the info. I put it into a square and now it works.
I have another question: how do I make the turret centre on the hull? My tank's turret ends up attached to the hull by the barrel O_o .

I wouldn't mind a binocular function for the commander. Just to make it possible to do a quick recce before sending troops out and to make it possible to spot some units before sending out patrols etc. Hah, I remember using binoculars a lot when playing Operation Flashpoint with the Command Engine ...

There's fog of war, it's just not visible :) . Anyway, stuff that stops the game from being semi-realistic: -Tank breakdowns, various types of damage, immobilization, etc. Tanks could really get stuck on some types of ground, like mud, gravel, etc. Most of Churchills during Dieppe raid got stuck on ...

I have a problem with the rotater under WinXP. When I drag a tank graphic into it, it cuts it during rotation.

Any chances for normal file opening in makemask and rotate? It's impossible to drag and drop files to WINE :( .

I'd love to see more AT weapons for infantry and variable rate of fire for guns. Also, it would be nice if infantry would attack open-topped vehicles with grenades.

Also, I find the low accuracy of AT/tank guns rather annoying.

I think that the best way to show StG-44 in current game would be to give StG soldiers a rifle with 200 rounds of ammo (7 magazines x 30 rounds) as it should be used mostly in semi-automatic mode anyway.
