I'm a fan of a lot of old DOS games that few people I know have ever played, probably because I had an AT&T 6300 when I was a kid and played Beast and Elite, and Might and Magic: Secret of the Inner Sanctum, as well as a bunch of others, like the Kroz series. Anyway, my attraction to Sean's games is...

No, but to write a good one takes the Frank Herberts, Tolkiens, and Heinleins of the world to write a great novel, just as it takes a gifted programmer and all-around thinker, much like Sean, to make a good game. I've got a mid-level gaming rig, and games from Empire Earth to Halo, yet I find myself...

I only know VB, and I'm no expert in that, but I've got several books on C and one on C++ just waiting for me to stare them down.

In Alterlife there are power sources that randomly regenerate when they are depleted after a certain amount of time, so maybe that would work in Slay for bonus hexes.

Suggestions from an addicted newbie...

Okay, I've still not managed to get a commander past 20 missions, I tend to refuse to back down or resign myself to failure, even after a barrage of plectrons and oriks has just wiped out my entire squad right around me. This game really draws me in, there's a sort of shock when a friendly on your w...

Yep, I've had games where my victory percentage was less than 25% early on, but once I had saved my bacon and played it out, I finished at around 50%. I think my best(luckiest) finish percent was 55 or something like that. The dice is balanced and random, and as with any random system, there is alwa...

Yeah, I'm still adjusting to the full version, and I use light custom ships that can turn on a dime, haul tail, and deliver a pretty large amount of damage, but have absolutely no armor, save just a piece in front, since my ships can cover the other three sides with their agility. Even using this st...

Supply Lines

I don't know if I missed it, but I have never seen any options for setting up movement rules. In the rules, you should be able to set how many moves you can do after you end your attack phase. I don't know how much work that would involve, but I think it would be nifty.

I'm inclined to agree, maybe as another difficulty level, perhaps called Evil, or just as a check box kinda option at the new game screen.
