I'm not following the logic behind this suggestion. If Sean gives away his source code (and assuming we can all compile it) how does this make him money? If a Billion people can all mod and compile the game themselves Sean gets a billion times $0 which I make as $0. Umm ... I'm not seeing the motiva...

Since March I've been unable to update my webpage but I'm able to do so again and I've a lot of new ships to upload. Unfortunately a lot of the content has broken in my absence and needs re-done. I'll hopefully get both done (new ships and repair old content) before the end of the year when I loose ...

My ISP has clarified that I can't update my content unless I am using them to access the web. This is something of a problem as I am out of the country with work at the monent and so can't do any updates :( Except for a brief trip home for Christmas. :) I've got some updates done but there is still ...

I doubt that.
The AI is sometimes foolish but I lost from being unfortunate.

Awsome ... and possibly Tiresome if someone else took 30 seconds per turn where you are used to taking only 3.

I've been playing Green for so long I instinctively shot any other colour I see. My few foreys for other races were a disaster as I shot my own ships!

Yes ... but you can't.
Sean has provided a fairly wide range of civilian targets for you, the only thing that might be nice would be to see how good you are against your own custom ships.

Yes, your medals are directly related to the cost of things you kill compared to your ships cost.
(with two caveats, killing your own ships counts agains you possibly by a factor greater than '1' and killing civilian vessles seems to count for very little).

I always fly my own custom wingmen whenever I can.
It's not so much that the AI isn't as good against them, but exchanging shields for more command centres and repairs makes your cheep wingmen last a lot longer in battle.
I regularly catch myself with a full fleet of only custom ships.

Are you hacking the game to get the AI to play with custom ships?

Being able to destroy units when you've over extended youself makes the game easier.

Getting the cash back for destroying them makes it much easier!

So you can create a spearman to destroy the neighbouring hut and then the following turn break him back into two ordinary dudes! .. Pah!

I remember one particularly annoying mission where I spent most of the battle bumping against the last hospital trying to prevent it from running off the screen.
I completed the mission but got no medal as I hadn't managed to kill anything.

Sean,

Is it possible for the installer to look for an existing "designs.dat" file and rename it something like "designs.old" so that it's not lost if someone forgets to export their ships / make a safe copy before installing an upgrade?
