Correct. As far as impacts go, its the mass of your ship that matters, not its physical size. Also, I'm going to feel free here to correct you, we did have a part of a thread where we discussed this very topic. Pretty much that is the conclusion we drew, though. I have some custom ships called Wee ...

Size matters.

I've been following these message boards for around a year now and there is one topic that I'm surprised never seems to be discussed (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!), though matters related to it get an occasional mention. Ship Size. Sean has the default ships size pretty well perfect - the m...

Well, ye know, Ace, an idea has just struck me : how is it that we (viz. our avatars) both show our teeth(*)? Seems we're the only ones! (*) BTW mine are more beautiful (though of course you have more of them)! Hey! What about me?! I've got LOADS of teeth and it's a real photo (taken on top of a hu...

Stop me if you've heard this! You know the talk of multi player? Well, if memory serves, the usual talk is of: 1. Two human players squadrons slugging it out. 2. MORE than two human squadrons players slugging it out! What I'd like to see is the option to have HUMAN wingmen! Think of the possibilitie...

Turrets with engines....

I recently found myself thinking. This is something I usually try to avoid but I sort of had it thrust upon me. I was trying to nail a 'disabled' enemy ship that had had a total engine failure. Disabled. I don't think so! Some of those ships are really dangerous, they may not be able to move fast, b...

It's slightly useful is the case where one of your wingmen is flying the same ship as you Hmmm. That's certainly true I guess, though I usually select my ship by clicking on the left hand ship in the sqaudron roster at the bottom left of the screen. I'd never considered the above as I VERY rarely h...

A daft niggle, certainly not worthy of it's own topic...

Scenario: Your ship has taken a beating. An enemy ship is closing in. You click on the enemy ship and note, to your horror, that he not only has a free missile bay, he also has sufficient missiles remaining to blow you into the middle of next century. You make the hard, but nescasary, decision to ej...

It took me a while to warm to repairbots, but now I wouldn't be without them in my high-end ships. While I make do without them in my earlier cheaper ships, I find that in later missions having repairbots means that I can stick around and complete a tough mission, whereas without them, as has been p...

Hmmm. Side launching missiles. Like it! Imagine roaring past a starbase or cluster of turrets and launching a salvo of missiles out the side. A bit like the Vietnam War era 'Puff the Magic Dragon' - a C-47 transport with a bank of cannon firing out the side (and down) at ground targets, the plane ju...

Ooooh. Now this is an interesting thread. I had no idea that people would favour such a spread of ships. While all standard ships are created with their own strengths and weaknesses, I assumed that there would be one class that simply WORKED best and it'd be the favourite. Roll on multi player - THA...

Yep, Falcons and then Eagles as they become available. They've got fire power to spare and they're pretty tough - unless struck from behind, then you kiss your sweet a** goodbye! In early missions I've been known to use a Super Watcher - if a Falcon or Eagle is unavailable - due to its survivability...

A problem with rear facing turrets would be that when you fire a missile it starts off with your current speed and then accelerates so it would end up being fairly stationary. Try flying backwards very quickly and shoot a missile and you'll see what I mean. I still think rear turrets have merrit as...

Hoo yeah! A 'hold fire' option (null missile launch) would be great. As previously noted, the option to 'fire' four missiles in the order hold, hold, fire, fire or similar would be a huge help. This is also related to the long running request to select the order your missiles are fired in, though by...

Is the direction of your escape pod ejection completely random? For some reason, the pod came out BACKWARDS. Yes, backwards, as in behind the ship, where the missiles were just about to strike my damaged ship. That is the DUMBEST direction you could ejected. Any other way I would have been safe. Wh...
