I've got the perfect 'GAAAH!!!' for you: Defending one of our Starbases I took several hits and found myself crippled with an enemy ship right on my tail, so I ejected. Good thing I did too as the enemy immediately destroyed my ship. The only problem was a nearby Strabase defence turret - he fired S...

So, enhanced chatter eh? The chatter is a very useful tool, but to be honest with you, I rarely read it as I'm usually caught up in the moment desperately dealing with my own problems! What we REALLY need is: VOICE chatter - different voices for different wingmen. The advantage of having the radio c...

The trouble is: Once you've initiated the Critical Mass Jump sequence, it CAN'T be aborted - you'll jump weather you want to or not! Think of it like an aircraft that passes the point of no return - you're committed. You should have thought a bit more carefully about pressing that button... :D I usd...

I spent the first year playing this game with stock ships (too lazy to build my own!) and I settled upon the Eagle/Falcon models. They have excellent thrust but only fair turning, so this is the combination I've got used to, and have replicated in my own ship designs. I guess it's down to your style...

I ain't keen on buying books new anyway, it's just one of many that I'm on the lookout for. I buy boxes of books from sales and such for a couple bucks a box then sort it out later, so I tend to have a strange variety of books.... a lot of books... Hoo boy, me too! I've got a stack of books over 8 ...

I loved how it contained multiple stories and such, I love how epics really make the universe that may be fictional seem very real. Hooo yeah! Space opera on a massive scale..! Just trying to find the final book in the trilogy so I can see how they're going to get out of it alive!! Excellent books,...

Combat wasps... The Reality Dysfunction? Hey, well done! I wondered if anyone would get the reference! The Combat Wasps carried many and various loads - ECM, nukes, kinetic ('solid shot') etc, and all had multiple warheads (sub-munitions). My point was, in 'The Reality Dysfunction', all ships in th...

Freindly fire is a serious issue on this game and its quite unreal to not have any safety precautions whatsoever on such powerful weapons. Anyone else agree? A few weeks ago I would have agreed with you as I was sick of getting blown up by 'friendly' fire... But I now see things differently. I've b...

Well, I didn't get the result I was expecting, but it was still well worth the experiment! Many thanks to you all for taking the time to help me out, the results of my experimenting are below. ___________________ Was I creating an 'artificial plateau' for myself? Sort of! As recomended, I now don't ...

I also have a problem with the Fuel Depot missions, where the AI wastes all their missiles missing the enemy squadron or blowing up civilians and I end up failing the mission because we all run out of missiles. Here's a thing - during defensive missions I've been noticing that individual enemy squa...

My two cents worth...

Make everyone use the same type of ship so the playing field is level... and have a 'no eject' rule!

Try this if you're brave!

OK, so we spen a lot of time moaning about how useless our wingmen are and how we'd like to have more direct control of them - target priority etc. I think I've hit upon a way of maximising their contribution to completeing the mission objective, using the existing features/controls of CM4. The only...

Self Inflicted Artificial Plateau

I've never got past mission 60 (on CM4 anyway) and I'm begining to think I know why... I'm a 'by the book' kind of guy. If I'm tasked with the destruction of a shuttle, I simply steam in, take it out then Hyperspace. No messing around hotdogging with the enemy fighters. If there is nothing in the mi...

Gret idea! I've always wanted to be able to instruct my wingmen to 'do or die'. I get fed up with them high-tailing it as soon as they get scared or when I have to eject because they've unloaded all over my ship for no readly discernable reason. Just stick around and finish the durned mission alread...
