If I showed all the medals it could run off the screen so I limit it to showing a maximum of 8 of each.

The problem with that is that the computer uses those ships so it's nice if they stay constant. Otherwise you could edit all the ships to being useless except for one and you could buy that ship all the time while the computer has to play with the rubbish ships!

Have you got version 3.0? A lot of people had the problem that the game crashed when they tried to edit missions and it seemed to mostly happen under Windows 98. As far as I know version 4.0 doesn't crash on editing missions.

Re: good feature

how about a good rewrite on your random number generator. Time and time again, I go against a computer with 2-3 times the number of guys and for a territory and loose all and he looses 1. something is fishy with your random numbers... also, initial placement on the map should be a bit more random. ...

Conquest uses port 4875

I picked up C very quickly as I'd been programming in BASIC and Assembly language for years before. C++ seems to be more popular than C if you're after a job in programming but although I understand how objects work it's not something I bother with.

Your real IP number

When you play a network game Slay will tell you what it thinks your IP number is but if you are behind a router this IP number will not be the number that computers on the Internet see you as, but just your IP number within your local network. To find out your real IP number use this link: http://wh...

3.0c is the very latest version but when just the letter changes from b to c in the version number it means that it's just a very small change - maybe something trivial like a spelling mistake. To be honest I can't even remember what I changed to make it become 'c'!

You can copy the file Slay.dat across to your laptop which will make a copy of your desktop's high score table on it (but you will lose the laptop's high score table), but there is no way of merging the two together.

Sorry, that was a bug that crept in to one of the later versions but it's fixed now. Send me an email and I'll send you back the latest version which corrects that bug (4.0a)
