Actually that gives me a good idea for a missile, a hyperspace disrupting missile thats as fast as a daycorn with as limited fuel, on contact with a hyperspacing ship its blows the hyperdrive, stopping the hyperspace jump and blowing out all remaining rear engines. It would have little or no effect ...

If the hyperspace takes the ships reactor 7 turns to charge, that?s a lot of power, perhaps the hyperspace drive doesn?t have an effective cooling system to deal with dissipating that kind of power, hence cancelling hyperspace would blow the engines or something. There's an option, you could cancel ...

That would defeat the point of hyperspace.

Hyperspace is a method for getting you out of battle, you have to think VERY carefully before using it because there is no going back. I personally prefer it that way, much more tatical.

The game checks for command centres on missile hit, not on a turn by turn basis

This should really be in off topic. Critical mass is my favourite and, by forum ratings, the most popular.

Umm.. do we have to take stabs at each other? Regardless of Quorad explaining how he did it/showing off, the point still stands, even if cheatings been discussed often before. Guilt is something that hasn't been discussed before. I've cheated in CM as well as many games. Generally I only feel guilty...

The commander who protects the hardware and, to an extent, his squad of useless wingmates should recive more money. Repairs aint free and while life must be cheap in the future, what with cloning and all, its still better if you dont loose 'experienced' wingmates. But the objective, is of course, th...

Fun:
Being the only ship left on attack enemy planet

Not fun:
Being the first to die on defend earth

And of course? FRIENDLY FIRE! The most frustrating way to loose a commander.

Curious about the AI

I havn't got the full version of MOAB, so I wasn't able to check this out myself. I was just curious about the AI and how it reacts to user modification to the pieces. For example: The AI knows to build subs to attack battleships, as they excel agaisnt them, but if the player put the sub build time ...

I always find turn far more useful, it helps avoid missiles and allows you to get into position faster. My most powerful ship is mobile enough to stay on the tail of any enemy fighter. There are a few situations where thrust is useful: After a collision with an asteroid/fighter/several missiles you ...

My problem is when I'm in between an enemy and a friendly. I've had a wingman launch 4 plectrons into my rear armour before because I was between him and a slow moving warrior.

Hmmm, I think consideration of friendly units is important in critical mass. Adding a missile self destruct would just remove some of the strategy, meaning you could spray an area with missiles and just destruct those that would hit friendlies. But I would like to see friendly AI that doesn't blow y...

Hold on a sec

ZX spectrum - ???

An old missile from CM 2 (the only version I havn't played) or a new missile design for CM 5 or just something never used?

OR does plectron come from Spectrum, and not the electron bit of the acorn as I was thinking?
