The bloody fields

So I was playing island 362 the other day. It took me 51 days to finish, which obviously is obscenely long, but nonetheless I'd like to share the story, for its dramatic tragedy. At first everything went the way the first moves always go. Setting up a few areas, overall feeling good about the proces...

I know I'm probably not the position to say that, but I'd like to anyway: While the attempt was made at the Nuremberg Trials to convict German leaders for the very fact of waging war, that morally without a doubt can't be justified, attorneys from the victors were themselves concerned with the juris...

It shall be mentioned, though, that while more improvements are obviously appreciated, Firefight is ranking pretty high on the realism scale for strategy games as is. Before someone starts it: I know there are certain aspects that aren't doing too well, also despite having been in the game for a lon...

I was neither saying that it was a perfect solution nor that the aspect couldn't be improved in the game itself, I was just trying to offer a currently walkable path of reducing the problem's impact.

You could counter the tank superiority by modding all sides to have access to at least one type of rifle squad equipped with Panzerfausts or Bazookas. That will stop the tank rush tactics cold in its tracks (pun intended) when your tank trying to route a rifle squad catches some HEAT right in its fa...

Aren't those ships awfully expensive to acquire, thus requiring you to be successful before even getting them?

Can't compete with that. The highest point I've ever come across was 65m and that was a peak in overall mountainous terrain, so it practically was only about 20m above the next peak.

Where did you install the games to? Windows Vista and 7 won't let you change files within the C:\Program Files\ folder without admin rights either, so that might be the problem.

There is no sure way to know whether or not an enemy can see you, but with a bit of experience you can judge that quite alright. Of course knowing how close an enemy has to be to see you doesn't mean squat if your own radar is so weak that you can't make them out in time. If an enemy ship is actuall...

Also you can increase formation spacing using the orders menu or even order 'Search For Enemy', which spreads the force even thinner. In a surprise move you can also order column formation which has all wingmen line up right behind you; sounds stupid but worked for me, as they seem a lot more aware ...

I don't see a reason it shouldn't work out. Netbooks generally don't have optical drives so you'll need something different than a CD to install it, but a USB stick should work fine.

I was thinking along the lines of an object that the game would treat as a dead soldier that other soldiers could scavenge ammo from. Purchase points-wise, it would be about the same value as a squad. It would be deployable during setup. How about including a halftrack version for attacks or spread...

Is it normal XD ? Probably not. But when I was in high school (and consequently had lots of time for gaming) someone once threw a bowling pin (or something like that, I'm not quite sure what purpose that thing had!) in my direction and I dove behind a wall thinking it was a potato masher. So... you...
