Random thoughts and desires

* Would it be possible to get an estimated ETA of artillery strike? * ...and for the ETA to be less upon retargeting if the new target is close to the previous one? e.g. if a barrage just ended, ordering another barrage at the same exact target space might not take as much delay as the first time. *...

Separating load-out and chassis?

Would it be possible at some point to separate the ship design from the missile load-out? I could see assorted ship hulls being useful for multiple roles, but with missile configurations chosen when equipping for each mission, rather than needing to create multiple designs which are identical save f...

* Sound-based location not sure what you mean. the sound of shots is now faded and balanced for distance ad direction of shot relative to the viewing screen (lots of quiet shooting lets you know something is happening where you aint looking). most of the precise locating is done with the muzzle fla...

Rules questions...

Just wondering whether I need to take any of the following into account -- * Fatigue (guess: yes, although it's not shown?) * LOS of (somebody?) to arty target? (guess: would hope so, but game help don't indicate AFAICT, and 3.0 doesn't seem to have dedicated FOs) * Effect of repeated shots against ...

Firing early...

Regarding early in the mission, I think it's just that your AI wingmates are willing to fire upon contact, rather than waiting for target lock. The missiles do seem to be able to continue tracking a target even if your sensors lose contact after their launch (in other words, you don't need to keep t...

Saving the zoom level?

Is there a way to save the zoom level setting so it stays the same between missions?

Survive!

Aye, it might be interesting to have a mission whose sole objective is to survive an onslaught until a relief force comes in. If you want something -really- ugly, 1. Allow 'wormhole arrival' missions, where ships appear through the wormhole one at a time, and 2. Start a mission with a wormhole arriv...

On capital ships...

Perhaps I shouldn't even mention the name, but I seem to recall that a certain "Battlecruiser 3000" intended to simulate the command of a starship. Anacreon (Neurohack) and the Space Empires series (Malfador Machinations) come to mind if you want good larger-scale space warfare games. Anacreon can p...

Question regarding wingmen firing logic

I'm under the impression that 1. Missiles, when selecting a target to lock on, have a fairly wide angle of acceptance and within that angle appear to prioritize by distance. Thus, a nearby asteroid that's about 30 degrees off may get picked over a somewhat further-away enemy dead ahead. 2. The wingm...

Any progress on tracking this down?

There's definitely a bug in how the AI (as exemplified by wingmen) can spot locate hidden ships that have been seen at least once. With no spotted enemies remaining, I've seen my wingmen go in the -opposite- direction, away from the question marks tracking estimated position based on last known posi...
