Sturmhaubitze 42 - New Mod

Germany introduced the Stug III to provide its infantry formations with armored support for both bunker reduction and anti-tank duties. With the eventual introduction of the long 7.5cm gun, the Stug III was very successful in these roles. However, while the 7.5cm gun had excellent armor penetration capability, the army soon wished it had a heavier HE shell. To address this need, a 10.5cm howitzer was placed into existing Stug III vehicles, and these were assigned together as a heavy support platoon to existing Stug formations. The Stuh 42 was very successful as the powerful 10.5cm shell could do a lot of damage to enemy entrenchments, as well as still be effective against enemy armor. 1200 were produced. The vehicle was identical to the Stug III but with a slightly shorter, fatter gun. This mod provides a very useful support option for German troops in the game from 1943 on. Thanks Knut. I have managed to overcome the problems I had with mods. Other players may find this approach useful. I use windows Notebook to edit files. I cut and pasted your data into the new file, and saved under the new name.

When I started Firefight, it gave a message saying
unknown nationality.

To check the code I lined up the halftack.txt in a window alongside the M16-Halftrack window. The two nationality entries look the same.

I cut the nationality line from Halftrack and pasted it over the line in M16, and saved.

I started FF again and this time it worked.

All I can say is that in the process of copying and transmission, the file must have picked up some invisible characters that upset the FF interpreter.

This has fixed the problem anyway.

Well done on your mods. The self-propelled howitzer might behave more sensibly in the game than the guns we can buy.

You need to use a pure text editor like Notepad (or Sean's own Newtpad) that doesn't insert any word processing characters or other header information into the file.
