by Legacy move your whole force in column formation along one edge of the map to avoid having to figure out topographic information from the minimap to plan a terrain-utilizing approach? On some maps that have a flatland along the edge, I've moved entire forces up that flat, with the exception of a couple suicide squads sent out toward the other side first as a distraction. It actually plays out well sometimes, but has cost me in a few intances.

Maybe it's time to replace the satellite/aerial photo style minimap with a topographic rendition of the terrain, to make life simpler for planning advances?

I once sent half my army up along the edge of the map and the AI, trying to use cover, let them walk off the map...
