Need...SNIPERS!!

My HUKBALAHAP Mod which takes place in the Pearl of the Orient is going well but I decided to put some Sharpshooters. Anyone know what weapon can be used to simulate a sniper rifle?

Regular rifle with an Elite troop.
maybe give a guy with a smg as a spotter

A small anti-tank gun behaves against infantry more like a sniper than anything else does.

It can engage at longer range than a normal rifle.

It induces a state of panic in the target and nearby troops, even when it misses.

It costs more than an ordinary rifleman, as a highly-trained sniper should.

I have tried using the anti-tank rifles as snipers, but they have no effect on infantry, which is a dead-set design bug in this game.

Meh, They still work amazingly against tanks.
And your snipers, what, have they got oversized barret .50 Cals?
To make a boom that big when they go off ;)

I stand by my claim that an Atk gun works more like a sniper than anything else does.

Anyway, it helped me get over my anger about guns being practically invulnerable against close-range infantry.

I tried the two-man elite rifleman team as snipers, but their range was still capped at 250 meters and they would only engage at close range.

I then modified the two-man elite rifleman team to "Behaviour=Infantry_HMG" so that they would engage targets at long range. Their range is still capped at 250 meters, however.

Is there a way to add infantry weapons to the game? I propose a sniper rifle with a range of 500 meters. Yes, almost all sniper rifles have a theoretical range greater than that, but under battlefield conditions, the effective range would be less, just as how most infantry rifles of that era had theoretical effective ranges of far greater than 250 meters, but most soldiers of that day could not hit anything beyond 250 meters under actual battlefield conditions.

In the real world, U.S. Marines are trained to shoot man-sized targets at 500 meters without the use of telescopic sights. Combat experience in Iraq showed few engagements beyond 130 meters. The two main reasons for this is that man-sized targets in combat are 1) hiding, and 2) shooting back.

Jean Boule's idea of using anti-tank rifles as sniper rifles is intriguing. I'll see if they affect infantry now. Things may have changed since 2007.
