Differences from the boardgame

Post by Quitch » Tue Jul 05, 2005 7:18 pm

Its been a while since I played, but there seem to be a few differences between your version and the boardgame, and I was wondering if all were intentional, and in some cases why you made the change:

1. Pieces of different values

2. Unable to move empty ships

3. Creatures cannot occupy one anothers spaces

On some versions of the board game each of your men are numbered from 1 to 8 and you score that many points for saving them. I thought I'd simplify that down to Kings, Princes and Peasants but you can turn this option off completely and have everyone count as 1.

The simple answer is - I never got round to it!

That was just because it would have got too crowded on the screen if you could put several creatures on one space. I don't think the game loses anything for this rule change though.

2. I think this is needed to improve game flow. Far too much reliance is placed on dolphins and ships are just a one-shot weapon.

3. It is a BIG issue so long as swimmers can hide with octopuses and dolphins. I think there needs to be some systems for handling this as it is far too hand to eat swimmers.

It is kind of hard to kill of the rest of the swimmers.
