Hi! That is my first post here. Is it profitable to sell small games? By "small" I mean made by 1-2 people. That is not exctly, but you know what I mean. There are big sells in the market but a lot of peoples with lot of interests.
I will be happy to kick my job someday and to work on my games. I spend few years learning Gamemaker's GML and have all (or almost) code assets that I need to make games - RTS especially. There are few things that prevents me to start, mostly GM failing license.

You'd probably be better off learning C++ or some variant of Basic or even Java if you plan on making "real" games.

I am learning C# (with XNA - interesting in 2d games only), just in the beginning now. GML took me a lot of time, because I am not a programmer and was really very hard. It't crashing license is the main program so I decided to learn something reliable.
But my question is other :P

I think whether ot not it's profitable depends largely on the games you make. Also slightly on what you consider 'profitable'. I doubt you end up swimming in money, but if I'm not completely mistaken Sean feeds his family on it.

you first have to get one game out there to see whats going to happen
so make one and then post the demo on all these gamer boards then
see what happens.
