Network game problem

I'm trying to play with my friend via network but I can't connect to him. We're in a local network. When I enter his IP 192.168..... I get a message that "probably you're behind a firewall". I've enabled Slay in my firewall but still can't connect.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

Which of you is running Slay in server mode?

What port did you enable when you set up your firewall to recognize Slay?

We tried either way but still we can't see each other.
What port should I enable in my firewall? Isn't it enough to put Slay on the firewall exception list?

Slay uses port #4873 for network play, so that's the port you should enable.

What firewall are you using? Are you referring to a software firewall that runs on each PC (such as ZoneAlarm) or are you referring to a firewall that's built into your router / gateway?
