Ideas for Slay

Post by PhilD » Wed Feb 07, 2007 3:38 am

I got two ideas for slay the other day.

1. Fog of war.

Men can only see 2 spaces and castles can see 4. Everything outside that region cannot be viewed (it is a darkened version of what was seen before or totally black if it has never been seen. Capitals could see 3 and maybe outposts would be a new thing you could buy which would only see 1, but they would only cost 5 coins. Just an idea. Obviously, this should be optional since some will not like it.

2. Plug-in AI

Make a interface where Slay enthusiasts can program their own AI. Then we can submit our AIs and let them battle each other. Maybe there would be a type of online high score list for who has the smartest AI. This would only appeal to programmers though probably.

Take them or leave them. They were just some ideas I thought were cool.

The fog of war sounds cool. All though the ai would have to be changed too to make it fair.

I think there are very few of us who could program an AI as good as Seans. Also Sean would have to develop some tokenised language to eusure that an AI didn't do something maliscious (or just crash) someones machine and get Sean a bad name.
And then which of us could be bothered to learn the tokenised language just to write an AI ...

I take it you never played CoreWars or RobotWars. Lots of geeks got a kick out of writing code for those games...

They were much much much simpler than Slay.
(One of you, one opponent and a 'flat' playing field)
You also ran your code on your computer with no 'what if there is a virus embedded in this AI' risks.
