high scores/records
I've copied highscores.dat from my old pc to my new one but the info doesn't seem to be there. When I fire up the new install, i see a screen of green trees, ie it's never been played.
How do I transfer my high scores please.
How do I transfer my high scores please.
1) copy the file slay.dat (your old slay) into the new slay files
2) rename the existing highcores.dat to something else like highscoresnew.dat
3) now rename the slay.dat (copied) to highscores.dat
REMEMBER : the dot dat gets added automatically, so you rename only the slay into highscores.
4) get out of the windows explorer and open your new slay program (which was closed during the manipulations otherwise it seems to recreate the renamed file automatically if you open the program and it does not find it
For me it worked perfectly. Good luck

One more thing :
The AI of the new slay might be stronger than the previous version. In my case, this is attested by the fact that I cannot beat some maps i have replayed with the new slay version wheras I had beaten them easily before.
So perhaps there is NOT much point in transferring the old scores anyway.
I have left on my machine the old slay program and this way I can play the same map either in old slay or the new slay and compare the performance.
Just a thought ....
