Suggestion: saveable net games

Post by gruff » Sun Feb 27, 2005 2:26 am

Net games, especially with more than two players, can last a very long time. Just today four of us played one map for over three hours - and we weren't even halfway done. It would be very nice if one could save the multiplayer game and finish it another day with the same players.

This would take a fair bit of work as the server would have to know it's the same computer connecting again and the IP address could have changed.

That's too bad. Would it be possible to allow the host to assign positions at the start of a new net game? Or perhaps save a net game, then allow it to be loaded and new players assigned to the various positions, regardless of the previous IPs?

i am a new member, but have played turn based games like this that have been saved on the internet, the way they saved them was every player left in the game had the same saved file on their own computer, to reload again, all involved players would load up the same file, and play would resume, how to code that i do not know, but thought i would suggest that for you guys, i hope to be playing online with you all shortly
