idea for (an option for) the next generation of Slay

Post by Dave W » Mon Apr 11, 2005 10:48 pm

How about this? It might add to the tactical complexity of the game...

Take the current production and wage values, and multiply them all by 10, so each hex produces
10 per turn, peons cost 20 per turn, castles cost
150 to build, and so on. Then introduce the following costs:

peons cost 1 per hex to move
spearmen cost 2 per hex to move
knights cost 3 per hex to move
barons cost 5 per hex to move

and maybe castles cost 5 per turn to keep.

What do you think? It would be a constraint
mainly in the middle part of the game, when territories are large but not too large.
Reason is that when the territories are really large you can usually bank a large part of your production anyway. But it would discourage one from wildly flailing about with the expensive units.

Would it make any difference at all, really?
If it would make a difference, would the difference be a good one? (f ever it gets implemented, it should certainly be an option chosen before the game starts.)

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Dave

It's an interesting idea but if I change any of the rules I'll get flamed to death by people who like things just the way they are!

Well, I like it anyway.
Maybe you could make it another mode, like Normal mode and tactial mode.

I agree completely. That's why I think it should be an optional choice made before the game starts.
Would it be hard to implement?
