Long time player, first time poster!
One day while just about finishing up an increases game, I though "I wonder how big an army I can get?" So I started keeping my last opponent alive and now have a truly massive army.
I have 478952 armies in play on turn 1486 and the last turn in was 3400. Has anyone else come close to this? Is there a limit to how many armies I can put on one country? (I can fit all my current armies on just one.)
Any other stories of stupidly long games?

I'll admit that I didn't put a lot of work into making the AI finish off games as I just presumed that people would either win a game or quit when they were well behind. I'll have to put some more thought into that for the next version!

Well, here is how far I have gotten. 1,033,686 armies; turn in of 5035 armies; and the game is on turn 2217! I think I have reached the end of my endurance on this game.
I am trying to post a screen shot. If you look at Austrailia, you can see that half of the last number and all of the first number have been cut off. I set out to see if there was a limit to the number of armies and I'll take this as success! Functionally, the game still has no problems. You just can't see all the armies there.
Thanks again for writing such a good version of this game.

why did you not create a map which would give you a 1,000,000 armies as a continent bonus?

How do I create maps?

There is a file you can download or you can copy and rename an existing map file and alter it. The art for the map is just a paint file so that is easy and the copied map file is essentially a tutorial as you can work out what you need to change to make it fit with your map quite easily.
Or if you just want large armies just alter then the value of each continent is at the top of the page just change "North America= 5" to North America= 5,000,000,000

that sounds easy enough. Any idea what the download file name is? I'll also try searching these forums to see if I can find it.
thanks for the tip - It sure would have saved me a lot of time

It's at the bottom of the conquest order pagehttp://www.windowsgames.co.uk/conquest.html
In the section marked resources.
(oh and you should be able to do that copy edit thing without the download)
