Enemy escape pods

Does it matter if an enemy escapes in an escape pod?

No it doesn't matter. You get the credit for killing the enemy ship, but it's OK to let the enemy pilot escape. You do get heavily penalised for killing your friendly pilots though, whether they were in their ship or in their escape pod.

It is fun sometimes to deliberately shoot an enemy pilot in his escape pod. Difficult to do too.

Presumably, the politician or trainee pilots on a shuttle don't get to go on the escape pod, but the passengers on the passenger liner do?
