Just a quick poll to see what sort of bombers people prefer to use. Any other comments you have would be apreciated.

Sorry - I thought I put stealth on there too. I guess I missed it.

I agree with missiles...
By the way: EA6B, what is going to happen to you now as the US fleet got the replacement ready?
Posted: Fri Aug 11, 2006 11:47 pm
Nothing is going to happen to me. "EA6B" is just a set of random letters and numbers I punched in when I couldn't think of a screen name. I'm not in the prowler squadron.

I like thrust on a bomber

I've got a few generations of bombers, Blockade Runner and Pile Driver most notably, that are high thrust, low maneuverability ships that can come in on a fortified target, stop dead to fire on it, and before the enemy can get in and hit me, accelerate backwards or through the debris to safety. Flying edge of your seat style with those is fun. Of course, in dogfights, they are some of the only ships for which ramming tactics are useful.

Well, I personally prefer passing them by without ever slowing down.

I didn't appreciate the need for thrust in a dog fight at first. But ever since the computer suckered a couple of my ships by letting me take the lead (couldn't slow down in time and they got nailed) I've been working it into my designs as a more practicle element.
as for the bombers I'm still rejigging my custom designs, at the moment I'm working on fighter-bomber types trying to balance thrust and turn at the expense of non-engine weight and giving them a wider range of missiles, scanners and comand points by saving on the shields and stealth.

My current favorite three custom bombers include one stealth, Have Black, one 100+ thrust ship, the Penetrator, and a brute force, heavy armored ship called Castille.
