Here's some missions...

1) Disrupt Global Games... London 2012, eat your heart out!
You can get the file from here, you lucky so-and-so.

2) Turrets... dada, him go "Boom!"
It is here, point your browser at it and click "Save".

3) Evacuating Hostiles... it might be against the Geneva Convention, but then - so much is these days.
File is here, nice and easy.

4) Men With Truncheons Dressed in Hats... the name says it all really.
Get it from here, simple like.

5) Attack Outer Defences... Our attack sqaudron will be destroyed. Bah!
Find it here, couldn't be easier.

6) Outer Defences... sure, it's a variant of 5 - tell me, who really cares?

Brilliant stuff, mate, I love them!! The best thing about custom missions for me is the fact that you can take someone else's excellent ideas and tweak them slightly to tailor them for your gameplay. For example, you could make them easier for earlier Lieutenant missions by adding another friendly squadron or deleting an enemy turret ring, or make them harder for Admiral hard-core missions by deleting a squadron of friendlies or increasing the credits of the enemy! I would encourage more mission-posting to allow everyone to get inspired to create their own!

Sadly, I haven't successfully completed "Turrets" yet... my 7-strong squadron of pretty beefy ships seems to shed their load of missiles in abject fear, turn tail and run for the hills.

I know that I could do it, but I can't do it on my own, if only my wingmen weren't fraidy-cats and didn't hyper home at the first sign of a slightly damaged bumper.

Wingmen personalities, now that's what I need... sure, that fella in the Drone, he can leg it as soon as he see spots a Warrior - but someone snug and safe and sound in the belly of a Warrior themselves should be able to be a bit more up-and-at-'em... sticking out until he's got no shields and only one Command Module... I need aggressive types, inventive types, sneaky types, fearful types, strategic type of wingman... and I want the ability to choose them for each mission - and I want the ability to be able to give them avatars... pictures of my friends, and enemies both.

I think that you should be able to name and save your wingmen from mission to mission, and build up a "fighter wing" of tried-and-tested other pilots...

lets get into the spirit of double posting! after looking at the missions, i deduced that the missions were WAY TOO HARD, especially because of the stages of the game that you get them in. i had to tone them down i bit to give myself even a fraction of a chance.

Yes, please do tone them down... as you see fit, just thought it worthwhile putting them on here for people to a) see and b) modify. I'm on 601 missions... with a seven-strong squadron of +400 credit ships... and they're still hard for me - as I said, I haven't completed Turrets myself yet. That's not 'cos I'm a wet-behind-the-ears Critical Mass student - it's 'cos it's a damnably hard mission!

I'll add some more as I knock 'em together... if they're too hard - modify them to your heart's content... it just makes a nice moment when you get a mission that's not Attack Stranded Ship for the 25th time... the more the merrier.

Ender's game inspired...

So, as I'd been doing a bit of reading recently instead of wasting Merikon, I figured that it was time to take some inspiration from some classics... and some not so classics as well... but mainly classics. Here's a mission that Ender Wiggin wished he could fly I bet... not that Mazer was ever killed in the books - but I'm using a bit of poetic license...

9, Ender's Game... play as Ender, controlling a squadron which has the task of avenging Mazer Rackham... you might find this mission a little bit claustrophobic. The mission file is here.

And here's one for Bean enthusiasts...

10, Ender's Shadow... play as Bean taking down the Formics - or 'Buggers' as they are known throughout the book - allies of the $ so don't feel too bad about wasting these ant-like automatons! The mission file is here.

A .zip file containing all missions is here.

Enjoy... but, if you don't, change them... and then enjoy.

daaaamn, that last one is filled with way too many asteroid fields. if you put too much stuff on the field, you wont be able to shoot missiles. if you put more than a couple asteroid fields in the mission, your ships probably wont even be able to fit. Ender's Shadow just goes way overboard.

Actually, that last one - Ender's Shadow - was an experiment... an experiment that didn't work out as I'd expected and there were some 'issues' with it... i.e. it didn't work. I'd uploaded an old version of the mission file... the current one, actually without any asteroid fields is up there now.

BTW... Ender's Shadow is supposed to be like the end of the two books where the Earth fleet arrives at the Formic's homeworld, with only 20 aged ships facing off a fleet of thousands... all determind to protect their Queen. Ender's Game has nearly been the best of me a number of times - you need a bit of luck to take out some enemy lead ships I think.

Originally, understanding that the Formics were burrowing, tunnelling creatures... I figured they'd need or like lots of asteroids around their home planet.

Anyone got a Dr. Device handy? You might need it.

That would definitely be considered a spoiler... Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow are effectively the same book from the different perspectives of different main protaganists. So, the outcome of each book is the same - what that outcome is... well, a visit to your local library might help... but a visit to Amazon certainly would.
