Success, Rank, Some Statistics

Here are some facts, which I found out (I think, it has not been posted before, sorry if I am wrong)

Mission
Success (S) 4
Failure (F) 0

Medal
Honour (MH) 1
Conspicuous Bravery (MCB) 2
Outstanding Courage (MOC) 4
Gold Cross (GC) 8

Rank
20 for each rank above lieutenant (AR)

Consequently the total credits available is calculated by the formula:
350 + S * 4 + MH + MCB * 2 + MOC * 4 + MGC * 8 + 20 * AR

I hope, I have got everything correctly...

You are wrong, it has been talked about before, but whatever.

I believe the MOCB gave more than a MOH but I'm not so sure right now.

Generally, that seems fine. Good job.

No, ichbinsehselbar is completely right. It has been talked about before and ich has figured out the exact same numbers. His stats at the top are right and his equation is correct as well.

I'm not sure about the others, but I always seem to get promoted to Major after mission 2.

Promotions are a function of sum-of-kills-so-far

umm ok can you figure out the function. as in:
Major; 5? Kills
Commander; 10? Kills
Commodore; 20? Kills
Captain; 40 Kills
Admiral; 75 Kills

you get the picture. i would LOVE to know

I don't think it's plain number of kills per se; I think it's score, which is based on all sorts of things. Score for a mission is based on the value of the ships you kill, and reduced by the value of your own ship. It's reduced even more by the value of any friendlies you kill. Winning/losing also matters. Not sure whether the value of your wingmen counts; I don't think so.

Mabye that sorta makes sence. I am sure you can get Major on the second mission if you win your first and second missions. No matter the kills.

I am confident it is based on absolute number of (enemy) kills by this commander so far.
However I've never bothered to count the kills, because I don't care. I count Gold Crosses.
