I was just pounding a coloniser when my second in command shot a plectron through the back of my ship. I guess my squadron has a new boss.

Ever wondered if the reason your squad mates normally hyperspace out so quickly is because your game self chooses cowards who won't try and nock him of in the mess; If I didn't consider the computer pilots so incompetent I'd accuse them of being downright Machiavellian.

Well, I don't know about your squadron, but my boys never hyperspace just because they feel like it. No cowards in this squadron...

I mean't after their beloved leader goes belly up :D

there was another thread that asked: If CM could be changed so that undamaged fighters didn't hyperspace out after the leader was shot down or if e ejects.

I was speculatin' on the very nature of the universe and the fact that perhaps your squad mates don't take the initiative is because you selected docile lambs to fly your ships and avoid backstabbing.

as noted my squad frequently shoots through me so my game alternative might need to work on that.

I must admit though I am envious of your superior hardnut squad mates :)

It's all in the ship design.
Once a ship has no missiles or no launches or loses a percentage of it's command centres it bails.
