Broke my best record for kills on a single mission

So I have been testing some new missions for CM and among other things have been getting some very high kill rates per mission. Today I got 18 kills including 1 starbase, 15 turrets, and 2 shuttles. The lineup on the mission debrief screen was so close together that they made one continuous row.

With a specially designed ship, it is possible to get behind light turrets and slam 2 missiles into their rear killing them instantly. The 15 turrets cost me 30 missiles and I got the starbase with seven plectrons and the shuttles with the remaining missiles.

I'm looking for ideas for really good custom ships. There are a couple of restrictions though, they must be able to be built with the internal ship designer and they must be the best of the best. I'd like to see elegant visual design combined with really functional ship components. The cost should be between 100 and 200 credits. Anybody got some they would like to nominate?

I noticed that "ant" look also and looked up a real tarantula for comparison. I modified the design to look more like the real thing. You can download the updated file if you choose at the same weblink.


As an aside, how would you feel if you could face off against enemy ships like the Tarantula and maybe bigger. This would be ships much more dangerous than Warrior!

looks great! and now that i think about it, a maneuverable, high-stealth ship like that could do some damage even with the AI behind the wheel. of course, it would go down much faster than a warrior when placed in a bad spot. if it got any bigger, though, it would be very troublesome. i'd hate to go against something like that, sneaking around and popping up out of nowhere.

I have designed several ships that address deficiencies in the list of internal ships available and placed them in the designs.dat file so I can play against them. There is a real thrill in facing off against a bevy of fully enabled ships that can slap warriors around like flies.

I have again beaten my record. I got 20 kills on one mission. Most of them were turrets but that is fine by me. My crude calculation shows that up to 35 kills are possible on one mission if a ship is correctly designed and carries the right missiles.

I don't know if I want some of my ships in the hands of the enemy... Its kind of like handing over highly classified weapon technology when it was developed to destroy the very enemy to whom I am giving the technology! :P However, it would be fun to develop ships to counter my custom ships.
