I haven't, but logically there's no reason why they couldn't...

But could a repaired repair bot repair a repaired repair bot that was repaired by another repaired repair bot? :lol:

Bot B repair Bot A
Bot B get destroyed
Bot A repair Bot B.

I see no reason (other than the mission ending) why this couldn't continue.

ya but thats not a long enough sequence of repaired repair bots repairing repaired repair bots. They cant loop, it has to be completely sequential. I spose I should have specified that. Also, how do you differentiate between them? As defined by the game, is not a component "destroyed" by a missile impact, therefore effectively obliterating the job of a so-called "repair" bot? Should it not have a name more suited to its task of re-creating destroyed components? Does that not render this entire line of questioning meaningless?

I guess if we're going all sci-fi here, repair bots are nano-things that have the capability of creating/repairing things on a molecular level, or something like that. Or maybe I just watch too much X-Files :D

What's the relationship between the number of bots to their repair capabilities? i.e., a ship that has one bot that gets an engine destroyed will have it repaired in, say, 12 turns. A ship with 2 bots doesn't seem to have it repaired in 6 turns, and a ship with 3 bots... etc etc.

Suppose you have a "repair ship" - 1 thrust engine, 1 turn engine, 1 CC, 1 launcher, 1 radar, and fill the rest with bots. It would be pretty useless in the game, but would all damage get repaired the next turn? Think I'll try it some time!

There's a certain chance of any component being repaired. Increasing the number of repair bots increases this chance.

Each repair bot has a 10% chance to repair sonething each turn
up to four repair bots.
Bots beyond four do not repair.
There is therefore no (little) point in having more than 4 repair bots on a ship.
(There is a slight advantage in having more than four in that if a repair bot gets destroyed you still have four).

:shock: Is this a fact or a speculation? I bow to your superior knowledge of the game mechanics! A more in-depth game "help" should say things like this!

(BTW, I've tried my hypothetical "repair ship" and it's absolutely s**t at repairing itself, which seems to confirm what you say, BZA! :D)
