Rule question for the General

Post by fairenough » Sun Nov 04, 2007 5:05 am

Is there any way to setup the General to play more like the electronic version of stratego, where nobody sees anyone else's pieces at all, until their killed? I know about the rule change that can be set so that a winning attacker does not have their own piece revealed, but is there a way to also hide a piece's identity when an opponent attacks and loses?

For example, in electronic stratego, the long-range abilities of scouts are only used for probing for bombs and the opponents spy. But in this Windows version (and probably in the regular gameboard version I imagine) it seems that the scouts are used to probe for all the pieces.

I'm sure this will just take a little getting used to, but was wondering if there are any hidden settings in the game that I'm missing.
