How do paras move?
Posted: Mon Nov 29, 2004 9:05 pm
One would think a para could go straight to the end of its fuel and then drop but that doesn't seem to be the case. How do the rules work on this?

My excuse for this is that the invisible transport plane that takes the paras there has to make it home again!

Bah, it takes me two turns to build that damn transport plane, and it only gets one use! If I order it to fly to maximum range and drop the paras, It should do it! Never liked those pilots anyway, their useless at battling fighters!
Bombers can't fly to maximum range either! Thats a bit daft considering the pilots must be suicidal maniacs. Its not as if they dont realise the bombs going to kill them.
Pilot: Heh heh bob, ready to suicidally assult that tank formation killling ourselves in a glorious nuclear apocalypse!
Co-pilot: Hmmm, I'd love too, but we only just have enough fuel to get home, we'd better turn back.

Now that's a valid point... The paratrooper thing I get, but the kamikaze bomber being concerned about making it home is kind of unusual.

Yeah, that is odd. However if you want the bomber to go further you can change it.

My excuse for the bomber not being suicidal is that again there is an "invisible" cheap transport plane that's just dropping the bomb and then returning home. It's the bomb that takes the time to build. An example is that I don't think the pilots who dropped the atomic bombs in WWII would ever have been expected to commit suicide to complete their mission but they would have turned back and tried again another day.

That's true, the Enola Gay simply flew high and turned around to go back to the airfield it launched from...
So, what you are saying is that transport planes in this world are not only stealth to radar, but can cloak like Romulan Bird of Prey?

I know it's a bit of a fudge, but I based this game on a game I used to play on Apple Macs and I never really thought about these inconsistencies! I think if you had to worry about atomic bombs and the bomber itself or flying empty para planes home the game could get a bit tedious.

If you bomb a city about 10 times, it should not be able to be recaptured. And maybe an option to have min/max cities in the random maps?
