UI Idea: Ghosts of enemy units

One problem I have is keeping in my head the locations of the enemy battle ships and submarines I saw the previous turn. A simple solution is to show the ship in the last seen location with half saturation. Going further, you can show them in the second-previously-seen location with one-quarter saturation, etc.

Not only does this remind us of where the units were, but it also gives a "trail" which lets us understand the unit's path. I got this idea from old radar displays, where operators came to rely on the ghosts of the blips from previous scans to see paths for the targets, so that that had to be added artificially when the technology no longer gave it automatically.

Along similar lines of increasing our situational awareness I would like to be able to slow down or maybe even step through the enemy's turn. It all happens too fast for me to really see what's happening. It would also be great to have a replay button if I wasn't watching the first time.
