Phantom U-Turn

Post by Malkierian » Tue Oct 09, 2007 3:23 am

OK, I searched the threads and couldn't find anything, and thus this post.

Anyway, I was doing the Asteroid Mining and Shipping mission, and as I was going to the first asteroid field, I was playing with the direction and found a curious and very desirable u-turn option in there that, while extremely difficult to pin down, really does allow you to turn 180 degrees in one turn! (Only that much, no less, no more, so if there's a ship at 120, too bad) However, after that mission, I never was able to find it again. Has anyone else found this, and if so, could you give any pointers as to how to trigger the conditions for using it?

Sounds like it may be some obscure maths bug I've made.

It is pretty well known actually and is not really a bug.

When a ship is totally stopped, you can click the arrow and flip it around 180. It is a bit tricky to do, especially after you have started moving. If you want to try it, hit an asteroid to dump speed, then slow to a complete stop. At that point, the flip can be completed.
