Custom ship size

Post by Conzul » Mon Feb 18, 2008 2:55 am

This topic may have been brought up before, but I couldn't find it anywhere. When making custom ships, its frustrating that they appear so small in the game. I can't get my ships to be any larger than the "tiger". I tried for one that was supposed to be like a large slow moving gunboat, but they all seem to have the same maximum size. Is there any way to get around this?

unfortunately, not really. the actual size of a ship is sort of proportional to both the size of the design and the ship's weight.

As far as size is concerned, I made several ships that were to be bare bones. I made them simple triangles with a bit more scanner capability. made sever versions all under 40 credits. Then I start playing and see them introduced. They are tiny! I can easily get them confused with misiles.

Other than being unrealistic, (ships smaller than missles they fire) would it be advantageous to having a fleet of these micro ships?

Are you sure they didn't just look tiny? There's a visible size and there's an 'actual' size, the latter being important for collision and missile impacts. That's obviously where a small ship might come in handy... we all love scenes in which the bad guys just crash into asteroids behind, don't we?
