Nothing but Asteroids on custom mission

I recently tried creating my first custom mission, and for some reason, the only thing that shows up when I play it is the asteroid fields I put out. Not me, no enemies, no targets, no nothing. and if I click "End Turn", I win.

I set my mission to be the only one available, to test it, and this happens every time. I have looked through the forums here, but I couldn't find anything about this problem.

Has this happened to anyone else? Have I missed something? Or have I stumbled upon a hitherto unknown bug? :P

What does your mission look like? It could be possible that certain things just are impossible.

The first one had nothing but a crippled ship and some hospitals, I just wanted to try it out. I added squadrons on both sides later, but it made no difference. I tried making another one from scratch, and now it's working. No clue why...

Did you add asteroid fields in? They fill up the object limit...

Not sure exactly, but try removing most of the asteroid field and see if it works, then add back in if you like, until you get problems again. I haven't made many missions, but I remember making the too many asteroids mistake before.

The 'object limit' is the maximum number of mobile objects onscreen at a given time. I have not checked to see just how many but suspect about 256. Some 'war' missions can have total ships plus missiles plus asteroids in this range.
