Found a minor glitch in CM

Post by EA6B » Fri Aug 07, 2009 7:37 am

OK, you know how in the mission designer if you type "$" in the mission description, then when the mission plays the computer will replace the "$" with the name of the enemy race . . . Well, it doesn't work in the mission success messages or the mission failure messages. Instead, it just shows the "$".

it is not a glitch, it is designed that way. look at the mission descriptions of some of the existing missions and you will find the $ used often.

How come using the "$" in the mission success or mission failure messages doesn't cause them to say the name of the alien race?

Because that may not be a glitch but a slight design flaw. Maybe Sean can improve that for the next version.

A glitch is a minor malfunction, in computer world similar to a bug; something doesn't work the way it is intended to. A design flaw is something that's per se working fine but just doesn't do what the user would like it to do.
