Tried the demo this day and... can't stop to play with.

I have given the game information to french players of "Cyberstrat?ges", a french forum for PC games of strategy

a little pb : in the demo game, my units, sometine infantry, and very oft tanks, the sherman flame, refuse to advance when I give orders. The tank rotates but not advance, even I move the blue line in the desired direction. Is there any reason ? (I ordered to cease fire, so it is not because they are firing, I think. It's a little frustrating, I have to say).

Infantry refusing to obey orders:- That's the morale routines kicking in.

Tanks refusing to obey orders:- Tanks have a quirk where they tend to refuse to move once they've identified a threat (like another tank or ATG). Once the threat is removed (by destruction or retreat or withdrawal), the tanks start responding to orders once again.

(Tanks in FF are a little bit broken - it's primarily an infantry game).

One way of getting tanks to ignore a threat is to mask it with smoke. Once the tank no longer sees the threat, it will start moving again.

Ok, Andy. Thanks for informations. These tanks crews are not very couageous :twisted:

I wait now for a mail of Sean, to be able to buy the game these days. Play the demo is good but... it is only a demo and I want to advance in Normandy :)

I suggest ou to buy all the game in one pack (30$) if you like turn-by-turn strategies game, you will love slay and critical mass.
I need to write something, so i create that signature.

I tried the others, but Firefight is the one I prefer (others seem interresting games but not in the category of games I use to play : I prefer historical games and PC wargames)

I think that if Sean would decide to do some improvement to the game (I have some little ideas about), it would be a 100% great game (with the actual version, it is a 95% great game) :

Suggestion:

1/ To allow individual fire for LMG in infantry section

2/Create medical guys, with capacity to give medical help to wounded mens (I.e : a heavy wounded man, or near death would become only "immobilized" if a medical guy comes very fast to bring him medical help)

3/ To allow transport troops in vehicles (as "Steel Panthers", the great tactical PC wargame)

4/ To allow possibility to detach an individual officer opf the PC team, to go to rally far men or suppressed men

5/ To allow possibility to desactive some weapons (when you decide to fire, you choice with what : grenades or rifles)

6/To introduce new weapons : long range Rifle-grenades, etc.

7/To allow infantry groups to lunch smoke grenades (as in real war situations)

8/ To allow infantry to place anti-tank mines (it would need to create engineers troops and "pionnrs")

9/ To allow infantry to create trench positions (dig in) on the ground : for exemple, units would be able to take some time to dig in (during this time, they will not be able to move and fight)

etc. etc. :

I suggest to Sean to play some hours with the great "Steel Panthers" or to go 1 or 2 years in a military regiment as soldier :twisted: to keep some ideas for improvment of his game.

Other suggestion : When objective for a group is fixed (blue line), it would be nice to have it, as a little blue cross, in the strategic windows. Then, each time you click on the unit, you are centerd on the unit and his objective on map appears on the little windows. With this little improvement, you can assign far objectives to your troops.

Other suggestion : not fixed strategic window, but just floating window : player can move it on the map

Other suggestion : to separate the 2 command : hide strategic windows and hide oob screen

This game is a crazy game, something of very very great could be made with. It's a pity for me to not have any informatic knowledges... :roll:

One other suggestion :to allow the possibility to reduce the strategic windows and/or the oob windows size with arrows, like under microsoft windows. Most of the time, player needs not to see thegreat size of the strategic map, and it would enlarge the field of battle screen

Which is why it has more tanks than infantry units.

It only got more tanks in the upgrade.
It used to have like 5 tanks and pretty much the same amount of infantry.
