old rule set for slay

hi, i recently bought full game pack, and wow does slay have unbelivable number of maps with it, its really sweet

i started playing an old slay trial version and in it the huts/houses didn't offer protection to the hex's next to it instead it have no first turn rule

the current game is good but i liked the older rule set better, i was wondering if its possible to get the old full version, or if the next version could have setting to change how it works

the trial i about info has date may '96

EDIT: looking at the version history it looks like version 3.0 is the last one before villages protected hex's around them

I first bought Slay back around 1998 - version 3 I guess, and I still play it. I have more recently downloaded the demo of the latest version and played the sample island. I'm hugely impressed with some of the new features, including the map editor etc. but I *really* don't like the change in the rules which makes the 'hut' defend all the adjacent hexes.

It makes the game much slower to get going, as when all the territories are tiny a peasant can often make no headway at all, or even be completely trapped and unable to move until he raises enough cash to upgrade - and then the size of his territory is too small to sustain the upgrade.

I'd love to buy/upgrade to the latest version and have a go at creating my own maps - but it would be great if there was an 'Options' menu where some of the changed features (like whether the hut protects adjacent spaces) could be toggled on/off. (Even a complete new rules/old rules switch would be fine, unless of course some of the changes have been gradually introduced.)

Hmmm - I was browsing back through some of the old forum messages and noticed this has been raised before. I understand Sean's perspective about not wanting multiple rule sets, but I still find the 'new'(!) rules make the game much slower to get going as you have to wait until you have spearmen before you can have any real exchange of territory. (The same is true for the computer-players, too of course, so they seem to sit tight for ages doing nothing until they can save up to either get a spearman, or even worse: a castle!)

I just found out SLAY finally made it to android!!! SWEET!

re-bought :)

Back on topic:
Any chance for legacy rules option in the future? It is whole another strategy!
