Slay game "problems"

Post by paul » Tue Oct 12, 2004 2:06 pm

I noticed that the purchased copy's help doesn't have all the information that is in the online rules. For example, the game help doesn't tell you how much it costs to buy a peasant or a castle.

It would be nice to be able to reset "Challenge Games" page so that (1) I can reset a game to a zero score--just like I hadn't played it yet, and (2) mark a game as particularly interesting so that I can easily find the ones that I'd like to try again.

I'm running Slay Version 4.2 on an XP system.

thanks.

You can reset the Challenge game window by deleting the SLAY.DAT file,
although I agree it would be nice to have a reset option within the game
itself.

I also agree it would be nice to be able to add notes or mark past games
in some way to indicate they were particularly interesting or worth
playing again.

Sean, I've had a couple additional ideas along the same lines:

1. It would be nice to mark the games in some way to differentiate
which were played all the way to the end vs. which were won by
accepting surrender. (As I've said before, I'd also like to have an
option to disable the computer opponents' ability to offer a surrender.)

2. It would also be nice on the Challenge game window to provide an
option to search for games that were won in more days than a certain
number of days. For example, I'd like the program to search for all
games that were won in 30 or more days and highlight them in a
different color.

The reason for this is that after I have played all the games, it would
be nice to go back and find the games that took more than, say, 30
days for me to win, so I could try them again and see if I can win them
in fewer days. Searching for those games manually is a fairly tedious
operation.

Thanks!

Mark Collier
