Slay on 2 PCs

Post by mikn2 » Thu Nov 11, 2004 3:07 pm

I have been playing Slay on my PC, but I now play much more on my laptop. Is there any way of copying across the Challenge screen (or the data) that indicates the islands I have completed to my laptop.

Or (even better) is there any way of merging the two files to have a composite of all of the games that I have completed?

Any solution gratefully recieved.

The short answer is no, it can't be done.

The long answer is yes it can be done if you are willing to use a bit editor to modify the files. It would take a couple of hours.

You can copy the file Slay.dat across to your laptop which will make a copy of your desktop's high score table on it (but you will lose the laptop's high score table), but there is no way of merging the two together.

I have utility, that can merge two slay.dat files into one. (Actually I write it yesterday after reading this thread :). Do you need it? Mail to me. But I must warning you: it's ugly and DOS-based (I wrote it on Clipper 5.0 for DOS).
