Valentine cost?

Post by Quitch » Tue Dec 21, 2004 8:03 am

The Valentine is the same speed as the Matilda II, has the same gun and the same crew, but less armour. Despite this, it costs one credit more. Why?

2 MGs?

But I agree. Tank point costs do seem a bit screwy. OTOH, I play a lot of Steel Panthers, which is a serious tactical wargame that's been around in one form or another for about nine years, and people are still arguing about unit purchase costs in that.

One thing that I learnt from Steel Panthers is that it's almost impossible to assign a "value" to a tank that covers everything. A Matilda I is no match for a Panzer III or IV head-to-head but in the infantry support role with the other side having no tanks, they're about equally capable.

Ah, maybe... I forgot that the rules don't list MGs... is an extra MG really only worth 1 credit? Seems to me that for each extra credit you get a hell of a lotta stuff.
