Those are some sleek look'n ships ya got there, ima_gnu! Me likey! LOL! I'de ask you to send them to me so I could post 'em, but right now I can't work on my site. The computer I use to work all the graphics and HTML is currently off-line.

P.S. So you play Warcraft III? I've heard of that but I've never played. I got to addicted to RuneScape! Lol!

I have some decent custom ships of my own, the problem is I have terrible luck. Nothing says "fusterated" like getting hit by 3 or 4 purple missles in one turn and dieing before you get a chance to eject.

(enterprise is my design, lol! No worries. I meant I use some of his designs for a few missions)

And ya, the light cruiser is cheap enough to come up in the first mission, and the medium within....15 wins, give or take.


and Fighter_ace, not to take any credit from you, but I got sidetracked pretty good by Mangin :P

Yeah ina_gnu, I love your Enterprise and Super Cruiser a ton :D ! Very creative design! That Star Wars/Star Trek feel was just what I wanted for my Sraft ship 8) , but I was unable to capture it :( . Great work.... great work!

lol, I didnt think it was very creative, I just copied someone elses idea! But thanks :D

I just spent the last hour and a half making this "Fighter" line of ships. I have to apologize for the last one, my creative juices had completely dried up!

I myself, believe it or not, am not that big on loads of shields in the rear. Compare the prices of putting one in the back with putting one in the front... yeah, I know :P ! It makes the ship cost quite a bit more. I think most people like to have shields in the back for a sense of security in case they can't get a trailer off of them. For me, I just use turning, thrust, stealth, or repairing as my counter measure. If you have awesome turning and some repair bots, you can lose almost any missile that traces you. I use the extra cash to upgrade other parts of the ship. I really hate it when people put more shields in the back than in the front. It makes the ship virtually worthless vs. turrets when in close combat. To be totally truthful, I purposely make ships with low amounts of back shielding and high levels in other spaces just so that newcommers have awesome cheap ships available. But that's just me :roll: .

The Fighter series is only moderate rear shields, because I am slowly learning that particular way of thinking. You can increase performance significantly just by whacking off rear shields. I do like to have one there, because thats most likely one more hit you can take, which on a cheap ship means quite a lot. The two most expensive ships (Enterprise and Super Cruiser) are that way (expensive) because they have so much rear shielding, a fact which I may remedy. Eight super shields on the rear of a ship with 71 degrees turn is stupid. I can out turn just about any missile. At 20 bucks a pop, they are worth removing. Note on the back ot eh Sabrejet, it only has four regular shields, where the other sides have high shielding. I'm turning more and more to a ship with extreme turning and minimal shielding. I find that if you have any less than five repair bots, though, a significant hit to the turning engines will basically take you out of the fight, because you have lost your main advantage! So I tend to put on a bit of shielding, too. Its easy to biuld a super-ship under 300!

You can do a lot of stuff, like dacorns, destory 1 shield per minute, etc. On http://www.rsclegacy.com they have those too. You will die in one hit even if you have super shields rofl.

EXACTALY! Daycorns are the main back smashers in the game. Seeing how they only take out one regular shield, I see almost no reason to put super shields in the rear. Turning and thrust are way more valuable (and cheaper) than shielding the hell outta your ship. You can use turning to out maneuver the trailing missile or you can use your thrust to run it outta gas (excepting oriks) or blast away from plectrons (also very helpful!). In turn, a ship relying on shielding is way worse designed than one that uses its own resources to survive. Why? Lose your shields and you're pretty much a goner :shock: !

Eventually though, you run out of things to upgrade on your ships. Then you have nothing to do but super shield every side. :)

I would still prefer high turn/thrust. I'm not a fan of shields at all, because of the cost/weight.
