Design area or Pre-Set area?

Post by Warmaster » Sun Jun 04, 2006 3:01 am

Well, after designing some ships of mine (I think they are pretty nice, and will try to put up a site with them soon) I ended up wondering if there was a normal size for every ship, like how large is the area that is affected by running into something or getting hit with missles.

So if you got hit with something if it hit that area no matter what your ship looked like, or is it that if your ship is tiny there is a smaller area to hit?

If everyone is confused I will try to explain it in more detail.

not 100% sure but the picture size of your ship
does not matter....its all the equipment you have
etc...etc..that determines damages/amounts and
the kind of missle coming at you...
if you run..you'll only die tired

The 'hit area' is definitely determined by the ship's contents and not its display size; you can create a ship with no triangles at all but you still get hit. I don't know if it's cost, weight or number of components that detemines the hit size, though.

it's weight, which means engines matter a lot

we've had a few threads on the topic and after numerous experiments we have determined that it is weight and weight alone.
